INDIGENOUS PARTNERSHIPS
The Emil Anderson Group is committed to working effectively as a trusted partner alongside Indigenous communities across the province. Led by our Indigenous Relationships Team, EAG takes steps to engage early, build trust and understanding, and develop meaningful relationships with our partners.
We actively listen and learn about each community, their capacity, needs and collective goals for every project. Depending on project type, we develop site-specific Indigenous Inclusion Plans that outline our goals, key performance indicators, and tracking as it relates to Indigenous employment and spend.
We focus on maximizing opportunities for Indigenous Communities on our projects, which may include:
• Pre-construction readiness training for Indigenous candidates
• Prioritizing recruitment initiatives targeting Indigenous communities, to foster employment opportunities within our team and the wider construction industry
• Access to valuable in-field mentoring programs, training, and career advancement
• Subcontracting opportunities—preferred vendor list for Indigenous businesses
• Exploring potential community oriented initiatives, which may involve considerations such as scholarships, donations, and various gifting opportunities.
• Participating at community events including job fairs, open houses, and/or annual events.
We believe it is our responsibility to move towards positive reconciliation in BC, and feel our organization can positively impact Indigenous communities in a meaningful way. Where possible, we look to formalize partnerships and offer long-term economic benefits that leave a legacy for our community partners through economic reconciliation.
