Emil Anderson Construction Partners with SD23 for the HEO Dual-Credit Program

Emil Anderson Construction is excited to announce our involvement in the School District 23 Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Dual-Credit Program—a hands-on initiative designed to give high school students a head start in the trades.

After four years of development, we’re proud to see this program come to life in partnership with SD23 in the Okanagan, following the program’s success in Abbotsford. This initiative provides students with an incredible opportunity to gain both high school credits and real-world trade experience before graduation.

What is the HEO Dual-Credit Program?

The 12-week program, offered to Grade 12 students in the second semester, blends classroom learning with hands-on experience in the field. Students spend time developing foundational knowledge before transitioning to practical training, where they learn to operate heavy equipment using EAC’s machinery and training site at our gravel pit.

This immersive learning experience not only gives students valuable industry skills but also allows them to connect with potential employers before graduating. We see the program as more than just an educational initiative—it’s a direct pathway to careers in construction, and we look forward to hiring some of these students in the future.

Empowering the Next Generation of Builders

Programs like the SD23 HEO Dual-Credit Program are critical in addressing the skilled labour shortage while providing students with a clear path into high-demand trades. By supporting this initiative, EAC is investing in the next generation of construction professionals and helping to build a stronger, more skilled workforce.

As a company committed to excellence, training, and career development, we are proud to be a part of this program and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on students, their careers, and the construction industry as a whole.
