Emil Anderson Construction offers a tuition and education bursary, along with the opportunity to be considered for a co-op work term on an EAC civil construction project in British Columbia.

    Female students in post‐secondary Civil Engineering or related programs. Entering 2nd year or beyond, strong academics, interest in civil construction, and community involvement.

Application Information

Applying for this bursary offers much more than financial support—it’s your gateway to advancing your studies and gaining invaluable paid work experience with one of British Columbia’s leading civil contractors. As a recipient, you'll receive mentorship and hands-on exposure to field engineering, project coordination, quality assurance, surveying, and safety practices.

  • The Women in Civil Construction Bursary is designed to support and encourage female students pursuing careers in civil construction. This bursary provides financial assistance to help advance post-secondary studies and promote greater participation of women in the civil construction industry.

    • Open to female students enrolled in Civil Engineering or related programs
    • Applicants must be entering second year of study or higher
    • Bursary value of $2,500
    • Funds may be applied toward tuition, books, or other educational expenses

    Application does not require employment or co-op placement with EAC.

  • To be considered for the Women in Civil Construction Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria. These requirements reflect both academic commitment and demonstrated interest in a career within civil construction.

    • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Civil Engineering program or related discipline
    • Entering second year of study or higher
    • Maintain strong academic standing
    • Demonstrate a clear aptitude and interest in a career in civil construction
    • Show meaningful involvement in their community
  • To complete your application, please prepare and submit the following materials. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

    • Completed bursary application form
    • Proof of enrollment or acceptance from a recognized post-secondary institution
    • Brief written statement outlining your interest in construction and career goals
    • Short video submission (see guidelines below)
  • Your video should meet the following requirements:

    • Format: MP4 or MOV, recorded in a horizontal orientation
    • Environment: Quiet, well-lit space with clear audio
    • Introduction: Full name, school, program, and current year of study
    • Content: A brief overview of who you are and why you are interested in building civil construction projects in BC

    In addition, please address three to five of the following prompts in your video:

    • What inspired you to pursue civil engineering?
    • What key experiences have shaped your interest (coursework, clubs, co-ops, or extracurricular activities)?
    • Describe a challenge you overcame and the lessons you learned.
    • Which phase of a civil project interests you most (planning, surveying, field engineering, quality, safety, or coordination), and why?
    • Is there a civil construction project you admire, and what impact has it had on the community?
    • What technical skills do you bring (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, surveying, materials testing, scheduling)?
    • What do you hope to learn through a co-op term with Emil Anderson Construction?
    • Why do you believe you are a strong candidate for this bursary?
