Project Overview
The Highway 1 Tappen Valley Road Four-Laning Project spans roughly 4.3 kilometres of highway between Ford Road and its terminus, 400 m east of Tappen Valley Road. Upon its scheduled completion in late 2026, the project will improve the highway’s safety, capacity, and transportation of goods and services by reducing travel times during peak periods and providing safer vehicle access to local roads.
- Introduction of wider shoulders and a new frontage road system to support cyclists, pedestrians, and other modes of transportation.
- Includes the replacement of the Tappen Overhead Bridge.
A Major Upgrade
The revitalization project scope includes widening the highway from two to four lanes as well as the addition of a new eastbound commercial carrier pullout, a new frontage road system to provide safer highway access, installation of a median barrier, and a modified protected T-intersection at Tappen Valley Road.
